Get Involved
Members of the UNC Charlotte community are important contributors to campus sustainability. Here are some ways the Sustainability Office can help.
events
The Office of Sustainability maintains a list of current events where you can learn, meet, join, make, play, and taste.
STUDENTS
Learn and contribute in many ways and many levels of commitment.
- Volunteer: Student Affairs maintains a website for Volunteer Opportunities both on-campus and off-campus.
- Join a Student Club, Organization or Committee: Learn more about the student clubs and organizations with sustainability interests and the student committees that make important decisions affecting the campus.
- Work on Campus: Learn more about the student employment opportunities available across campus.
EMPLOYEES
The university is currently piloting a Green Workplace Program to replace the Green Office Program (2015-2020). Departments and units will be guided through a self-assessment of the operations and get advice on how to improve their practices to reduce waste, conserve energy, improve purchasing, and maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
For individual employees, the university is launching a Sustainability Ambassador Program. This professional development opportunity will allow employees to learn about university sustainability goals, successes, and challenges through monthly learning opportunities. Participants will meet campus sustainability leaders, get behind-the-scenes tours, and contribute to a project that supports their unit or the campus.
FACULTY
Explore teaching topics and techniques with “Sustainability in the Curriculum” workshops. Since 2015, the Office of Sustainability has organized two-day workshops in May. Over 70 faculty participants have worked on incorporating sustainability concepts into their courses and degree programs.
