The Office of Sustainability has also put together a more comprehensive list of sustainability-related jobs that is updated daily. This includes remote, in-person, and hybrid internship, entry-level, and mid to advanced-level positions in North Carolina, the East Coast and nationwide.

Out-of-State Internships

Interpretive Media Steward – AmeriCorps

Stewards Individual Placements (Stewards), a program of Conservation Legacy, provides individuals with AmeriCorps service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants serve with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits to provide institutional capacity, develop community relationships, and support ecosystem health. Stewards in partnership with the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield will host an Interpretive Media Steward.

Horticulture and Natural Lands Intern

The Hay, Honey Farm, a private garden/arboretum in Bernardsville, New Jersey, is accepting applications for fall 2026 internships. The internships provide valuable hands-on experience in horticulture and land stewardship working side by side with seasoned professionals. The work will likely include invasive species identification and control, tree & shrub pruning, gathering native perennial seeds, perennial planting, vegetable gardening, turf maintenance, and more.

Spring 2027 Legal Internship: Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL)

The Center for International Environmental Law (CIEL) is a dynamic, nonprofit organization that works at the intersection of human rights and the environment. CIEL is comprised of attorneys, campaigners, researchers, and communicators who have extensive experience in leading international strategies to advance everyone’s right to a healthy environment. Our legal internship program offers a unique opportunity for law students to develop skills in the field of international environmental law, and using legal strategies to protect human rights and the environment.

Sustainability Coordinator: Town of Holly Springs

The Town of Holly Springs is hiring a Sustainability Coordinator. This position will promote energy efficient smart technologies, evaluate and assist implementing low impact service delivery methods, and encourage strong environmental practices and stewardship. The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the comprehensive Town-wide sustainability program. 

Located in Holly Springs, NC.

Out-of-State Positions (Entry Level)

Technical Advisor: Florida Trail Association

FTA Technical Advisors (TAs) are responsible for leading high quality trail work projects on the FNST. TAs work under the general supervision of the FTA Field Project Manager, and are often directed in the field by FTA’s Regional Trail Program Managers. Trail work along the FNST largely consists of corridor brushing with hand tools and mechanized equipment. Infrastructure construction, repair, and removal can also be expected. Work projects vary in length from 2-10 days in front and backcountry locations.

Commissioning Engineer: Group 14 Engineering

Group14 is seeking a Commissioning Engineer in Denver, CO with a wide breadth of technical knowledge and drive to help the Commissioning team constantly improve. The Engineer will manage and execute all aspects of commissioning projects, assist project teams in design, construction, and operation of high-performance buildings, and act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to clients, building owners, design professionals, and construction teams.

Senior Forest Carbon Analyst: Earthshot

Earthshot is a climate tech company that builds the financial and technical infrastructure to create, finance, and manage nature-based carbon projects at scale. Their work spans carbon compliance services, project finance, and the technology that makes it all move faster. The Forest Carbon Analyst will lead project development and management, monitoring, reporting, and verification, technical guidance, strategic coordination, and other duties outlined here.

Senior Investment Analyst: Helios Energy Ventures

Helios Energy Ventures is a venture capital firm focused on the technologies and infrastructure powering the electron economy. We are hiring a Senior Investment Analyst to contribute across the investment process—from thesis development and sourcing through diligence, investment committee materials, portfolio monitoring, and LP communications.
