student engagement programs

Students are the fabric of the University and play a critical role in creating and supporting a campus culture of sustainability. Click on each program below to learn how you can get involved with sustainability today!

Join a student organization

There are over 30 sustainability-related student clubs, organizations, and committees that are open to all UNC Charlotte students. If you are interested in volunteering and serving the campus and Charlotte community, plugging into a student organization is a great first step! Ranging from environmental-focused groups like Earth Club and Pollinator Club to groups addressing social justice, citizenship, health, and technology like the Red Cross Club and 49er Democracy Experience.

Student organizations can also join the Adopt-a-Spot program, which allows groups to “adopt” an area on campus to clean regularly during the academic year. Learn more about this program on the Adopt-a-Spot page.

The Charlotte Green Initiative (the student green fund) displays a poster during a campus event.

work on campus

An EcoRep talks with students about sustainability on campus.

The Office of Sustainability, along with many other offices on campus, hires students to work part-time during the semester. This is a great opportunity to connect with staff and faculty on campus, and build your professional portfolio! The Office of Sustainability hires EcoReps each fall and spring semester.

All positions are posted on Hire-a-Niner.
