Many groups in the Charlotte region host events and opportunities open to anyone interested in getting more involved with sustainability in the community. You can find a list of upcoming events and opportunities below. This list will be updated as new events are scheduled. For nonprofit groups that host multiple events that often recur throughout the year, there is a pull-down menu with details for each group.

Sustain Charlotte Events – Spring 2026
Sustain Charlotte Ambassador Training
Date: Saturday, January 24, 10am – 12pm
Location: Plaza Midwood Library (1623 Central Ave Charlotte, 28205)
Become an ambassador for Sustain Charlotte! This free training session will last approximately two hours at the Plaza Midwood Library’s community room. Volunteers will be guided through an initial staff presentation about the mission and history of Sustain Charlotte and learn about efforts being taken today to generate a healthier, more equitable, and vibrant community.

TreesCharlotte Events – Spring 2026
TreeMaster & TreeKeeper Winter Classroom Training 2026
Date: Tuesday, January 13, 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Location: 4404 Stuart Andrew Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina
Anybody interested in becoming a TreeMaster or TreeKeeper volunteer should attend this workshop, featuring the history of TreesCharlotte, planting practices, and a Q&A. Training is suited for all levels of arboriculture knowledge. Upon completion of the certification course, graduates will be provided opportunities to put their knowledge into action by serving as volunteer leaders.
TreeAmbassador Training Winter Season 26
Date: Tuesday, February 10, 5:30 – 7 PM

Become a TreeAmbassador with TreesCharlotte and advocate for tree planting and preservation in your community. TreeAmbassadors are specially trained volunteers representing TreesCharlotte at outreach events, educational opportunities, and more!
