A successful Earth Month
Seventy-five University departments, student groups and external organizations came together during Earth Month to host and participate in numerous successful events. The campus community gained awareness about sustainability initiatives, were invited to assist in beautification efforts and celebrated the natural environment. Here are some of the highlights.

UNC Charlotte students lead the way in Earth Day celebration at Belk Plaza
Belk Plaza became a hub of environmental advocacy this week as UNC Charlotte students and organizations gathered to celebrate Earth Day with a powerful message: sustainability starts with awareness, action and community. From a honey stand to outdoor leadership booths, the event highlighted student-led efforts that spearhead environmental consciousness both on and off campus.

Charlotte Green Initiative and SGA host the Sustainability Summit to promote environmental awareness
The Office of Sustainability, the Charlotte Green Initiative (CGI) and the Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the Sustainability Summit, allowing students to engage with researchers, student leaders and local organizations about UNC Charlotte’s ecological efforts.

Every year, UNC Charlotte celebrates Earth Month throughout April. The Office of Sustainability, along with environmentally focused organizations in the area, are sponsoring a variety of events to celebrate the planet.

Sustainability in Teaching
Did you know that the Office of Sustainability organizes sustainability in the curriculum workshops for faculty? Each spring for the past 10 years, UNC Charlotte faculty have led multi-day workshops to help colleagues network across disciplines, share ideas and discover new resources and pathways to incorporate sustainability into their courses.

UNC Charlotte Celebrates Earth Month with Events Throughout April 2024
UNC Charlotte’s Office of Sustainability dedicates April as Earth Month, bringing students events on campus to celebrate. Through the month of April, UNC Charlotte will be celebrating Earth Month 2024 with a variety of events, such as film screenings, garden sales, tour series, and workshops, starting on April 3 and continuing through April 27.
