Facilities Management welcomes two new leaders
Facilities management is adding two new leaders to its leadership team. Chad Carwein has been appointed campus sustainability officer, and Kent Reid has been named senior director of planning, design, and construction and university architect. Both appointments take effect March 23.
Carwein joins UNC Charlotte with more than a decade of experience advancing sustainability in higher education. Most recently, he served as East Carolina University’s first university sustainability manager, where he built a comprehensive program from the ground up. At ECU, Carwein developed the institution’s first sustainability plan, helped the university earn a Silver STARS rating and led initiatives including greenhouse gas inventories, green building standards and campuswide engagement.
Carwein succeeds Mike Lizotte, who will continue supporting facilities management as special assistant to the associate vice chancellor until his retirement on May 1.
